T-Level placement at The Bishop's Palace

I joined The Bishop’s Palace in November to complete work experience for my T-level qualification in Management and Administration in Yeovil College. On my course, I learn about everything that goes into a business, eg finance, HR, policies & procedures and much more. Prior to joining here, I completed a week’s work experience here which meant I already had the connections to be able to work with the staff within the Palace.

This placement aligns really well with my college course as I am able to link what I have learnt from college into any task which I complete here, allowing me to not only integrate my college to my work placement, but to also use the opportunity to understand what an organisation like this does differently to what I learn within a textbook.

One significant task which I have completed here was preparing and attending a meeting with the CEO of The Bishop’s Palace, Merryn Kidd. We discussed the annual business plan of 2024/25 and looked at the internal and external factors that can affect the charity. I found this extremely helpful as I can incorporate that within my end of year presentation at Yeovil College and explain for example how T

he Palace Trust is helping to reach net-zero by 2050.

Overall, the placement within The Bishop’s Palace has heavily affected the way I act, gaining the soft skills and knowledge needed for long-term progression in my career and linking extremely nicely with everything I am currently learning.

Here is a photo of me from the most recent Pancake Race on Shrove Tuesday 2026.
