My week at The Bishop's Palace

I am a year 10 student from Bristol and my week of work experience at the Bishop’s Palace has been a breath of fresh air. Not only did me and another student work in the gardens, picking flowers to sell in the shop and polishing plaques, we worked in the palace itself, helping on the welcoming desk. There is plenty of things to do here, but I really enjoyed the café and shop, as I think I learned how to be more independent and confident in myself working there. And, when it got hot, we took breaks in the room shown in this picture, feeding the swans, or sat down on the cathedral green, enjoying the sun. One of my favourite things we did was a 10-minute guided tour for our supervisor, Siobhan, where we explored the legend of the dragon, explained design choices for each room and learned all about the history of the palace and previous Bishops. This also helped me become good friends with the student I worked with through our teamwork, especially with the public, and it was a great experience.
