My journey so far as a Community Engagement Intern at The Bishop’s Palace - 

My internship at the The Bishop’s Palace has been an incredibly rewarding experience, allowing me to engage with visitors while developing valuable professional skills. I

began by welcoming guests at the drawbridge, answering questions about tickets, facilities, and the Palace itself. This role gave me the opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds and help create a positive first impression.

I have also supported visitors with the multi-media guide inside the Palace, helping them explore its rich history with confidence and ease. In the gardens, I worked alongside tour guides and welcomed visitors, sharing information and enhancing their experience. Other highlights have included interviewing a student placement candidate, supervising a student volunteer, attending a Communication Techniques training session at Skills Hub, creating Canva content for Palace blogs, and participating in meetings about community events in Wells.

The main challenge has been commuting from Bristol, involving a four-hour round-trip bus journey, often affected by delays. Despite this, the experience has been immensely worthwhile, and I continue to learn, grow, and contribute to this remarkable community.
